Please help i.d. this on apple

I found this only on my Gravenstein apple and on none of more than 40 varieties of apples.

Had spots on my Gravenstein last year that sort of looked like that last year that I determined to be frogeye leaf spot. But you are maybe too north for that.

That looks like apple mosaic virus. Don’t graft anything to that tree and don’t trade the wood, anything on that root will get it. Bother really helped spread that disease, he put many varieties on the same tree. I have a couple varieties from him with it and I have them marked.

Its not a real big problem, sort of like the fig version.

Does not it look like apple scab? You can see the dark dots on the green leaves too.

= Nick Botner? I quit sharing wood partly because I ordered a lot of it from him. I don’t know what’s infected and what’s not.

Just how big a problem is it?

I also think it’s scab. Apple mosaic virus produces yellow patterns on leaves without black dots.
Compare this (scab): http://ipm.ucanr.edu/PMG/IMAGES/V/D-PE-VPIR-FO.001.jpg
vs this (mosaic virus): http://utahpests.usu.edu/IPM/images/uploads/Insects-Diseases-pics/New_Fruit_Pest_Pages/apple-mosaic-virus.jpg

I wouldn’t worry. I have shared plenty of Botner wood, just not stuff that I saw the virus on.

Actually it does look like scab, I didn’t see the little dots. It looks like mosaic if you take away the dots.

I don’t think it is mosaic virus, either. I compared the pictures of mosaic virus apple leaves to Mes111’s pic, there are black spots on it. Mosaic virus did not have black spots.

I don’t know for sure what it is. It could be scab or it could be other apple leaf blotch issue. By the way, other green leaves of Mes’ apple tree have tiny black spots, too

I thought they were purple dots on the mostly yellow leaves which made me think it was frog eye leaf spot. But after looking at pictures, frog eye has light brown spots surrounded by a purple halo. Anyway, I sprayed captan on it and I haven’t seen it since.

Could it not be mosaic virus and scab?

Captan and Myclo, double down on fungicide? Will you add insecticide to your spray? From prevoius pics, you must have lot of apples this year.

You have all the bases covered. The only thing you need to watch out is Captan burn esp if you add sticker. I should add, in a slow to dry condition.
