Plums are in bloom and I haven't sprayed

It’s been a tough winter battling some personal issues and admittedly haven’t thought about or had much interest in my orchard. Last thing I sprayed was dormant oil around Thanksgiving.

I got a scion request the other day and when I went to the orchard to to check for wood I was surprised to find it was coming alive due to the mild winter. Some plums have already started blooming and peach and nects are at swell and showing pink. Some blooms have popped.

I can’t even remember my spray schedule due to poor note taking. I need to spray copper for PLC and I’d I remember correctly I can do that at bud swell and pink.

I’m usually hit with PC and have imidin for that. Trying to remember but what is best stage for it? Petal fall?

Last year I was hit by black knot for the first time. Aside from cutting it out after it’s developed, what is the best preventative for it and when should I spray it?

Hope that you are working through the personal issues well :+1: Hopefully you will get the advice you need as well about the spray schedule! I am not much help about that kind of stuff and usually spray mine when I can get time to. Best of luck in life and orchard!

My approach to black knot is to cut the branch off when practical but lately I have been attempting to remove the problem variety and grow more resistant ones.

David,
Hope your personal matters have been fully resolved.

Peach Leave Curl must be sprayed when trees are fully dormant to be effective, either after leave drop in late fall or before bud break in early spring. Spray with copper or chlorothalonil (such as Daconil).

I don’t use Imidan but first spray at petal fall is usually suggested.

Some say chlorothalonil can be used against black knot. I don’t know for sure. I do like @Auburn does. Spot them early and remove them as I see them.
