Are there any pre-emergent herbicides safe for newly planted strawberries? I want to plant strawberries next spring, but they get so quickly overwhelmed by weeds even with straw that I can’t keep up with them. I was thinking of trying a pre-emergent herbicide at least the first year until I can get them established.
Have tried this stuff on a Raspberry bed and it works really well. Not sure of the price, it was a gift.
The label rates it for Strawberries.

Heard of corn gluten as a weed preventer too. Also other stuff I’ll have to ask my brother he would know, he does a lot of spraying.
He said Avalanche as a pre-emergent for broadleafs and Clethodim for grass(that’s already growing). It says “Avalanche® Ultra herbicide helps control a range of broadleaf weeds in soybeans, peanuts, rice and strawberries.”. Clethodim kills only grasses and is rated for strawberries.
