I saw fig plant for sale at my local nursery for the first time, $29.99. They are Chicago hardy, brown turkey, Celeste, about 3 ft high with two main branches.
I am just curious, is this good price?

That is about the price I typically see them sell for at garden centers around here. However if you want to grow your own from cuttings there are several people here and on the various fig specific message boards (ourfigs, figs4funforum ) that will gladly send you cuttings of common or unknown varieties for cost of shipping.
Yeah, typical.
Sarah,
In my limited experience trying to root a few fig varieties, Chicago Hardy is very easy. If you want to try rooting it, PM me in late fall.
Thank you all for the reply!
I did get some cutting from kelby the end of last year: hardy Chicago and Sal’s GS. And the footings are doing very well.
Like I said, this is first time I saw fig plants for sale, I was just curious about the market price.
I have 8 rooted cuttings doing really well, now I feel so rich😀
@mamuang, I may take up your offer later if you have other varieties. Thanks!
I was given a LOT of random extra left overs from people this year, and depending on what grows well, I should have a lot to share this fall.
Thank you! I will look for you the fall.
