Pruning question

I live in central Georgia, U.S.A., and already have apple and pear trees beginning to bloom, and peach trees won’t be far behind. We have had around 8 inches of rain this month already, with more in the forecast. I would like to start pruning, but it has been impossible to find more than 3 days without rain. Just how critical is it to keep pruning cuts dry and for how long? Should I just wait for drier times?

I’m not surprised you have things blooming…we got enough chill hours in November for most things. So, warm, rainy, weather and they are ready to pop…especially if the rain is warm.

Meant to prune for an hour or so yesterday, but by time I got to my mini-farm, it was raining cats and dogs. (No, not literally.) Now it’s 26 with a trace of snow.

Somebody else can be the expert and advise. But I had had intended to begin some overdue pruning yesterday.

(No bud swell on apples in KY yet. Fortunately. Sorry yours in Georgia are, for they will get frozen…maybe soon as tonight.)
