Prunning potted sweet cherry tree

My Stella sweet cherry is in a 15 gallon pot. It has grown entirely too tall and wide for the space I have. It’s way too tall for me to reach the top. And the branches are spread way wide. It’s substantially wider and taller than any of my other plants. I want to maximize fruit production. I don’t care how it looks. But one way or the other, I have to prune it back.

It’s done fruiting for this year.

When is the best time to prune this tree back? When is the worst time to prune this tree back? Any other suggestions?

No time like the present. If it’s really too vigorous summer pruning will reduce vigor more than winter pruning. When I had potted cherries they were pruned after harvest. Seemed to work for me.
