Quince in Florida

It may be folly but I have gotten myself a Karp’s Sweet quince this year. I know the big scare with these is fireblight, especially since it’s so humid here, but I’m the only one around I know with apples and they haven’t shown any signs of it for the few years I’ve had them. So I gambled.

I got it bare root and am babying it in a pot until the roots get stronger. It hasn’t broken dormancy yet which makes me nervous. It had a lot of die back which I removed down to a good bud. We will see.

I’m wondering if anyone has grown quince in a similar hot & humid zone and if they could give tips.

Thank you!

After months, while the other tree I got is now a fountain of green, my quince is finally waking up.
