Red cedar mulch on fruit trees

Is there any harm in using eastern red cedar wood chips on fruit trees, pawpaw, persimmon, Apple, pear? A rather urgent question as a dump truck load is heading my direction

I can’t forsee it being allelopathic or necessarily harmful, but I don’t think they will break down quickly. This might not be such a bad thing for moisture retention but possibly if you intend to use the chips as a nutrient addition. If you have that covered I’d say it should be fine, but I’m not a cedar expert.

I suspect some allelopathic consequences when mulching young vegetable plants, but I’ve never suffered any consequences from them mulching fruit trees. I was hopeful they might repel peach borers but can’t say one way or another. Haven’t used them as an exclusive species much.

Thank you very much for the comment. It’s actually a mixture of cedar and other things so it sounds like I’m OK. Much appreciated
