Replace damaged Bosc pear?

Was going to replace my second leaf Bosc pear tree this year but the replacement has fewer branches and is smaller. The only thing I don’t want is disease in ten years killing it. I think a lawn mower did it it’s the size of my thumb on rootstock.

That should heal up. Put up some kind of protection and it should have a long life.

Thank you for the reply I just didn’t feel good about replacing it. Now I’m wondering if I need to replace my second leaf karmijn apple or not. Will post a picture do you think I need to start another thread?

Post it here. You’ll get an answer.

Here is my second leaf karmijn apple. I’d like to cut the damage out and hopefully form a new leader. As you can see the crack goes down a ways. It’s on M7, I have m111 to replace it. Keep this one and have 2 you think?
