Alcalde #1 is the same as Autumn Beauty. It’s large and can have decent fruit quality, but needs more sun than I get. The NMSU says it is good for short season areas, but that is only true if the short season is very sunny. Here, we have a longer season (good enough for Dong), but the level of sun (too much rain/clouds at the wrong time) isn’t always enough for AB to set a decent crop. Some years have been OK (though not heavy), while others like this year had almost nothing. Even in the heavier years, most of the fruit was concentrated high in the tree, the area which gets the most sun.
