Roots and Rhisomes order review

I ordered 3 plants from R & R.

  1. Anemone Tormentosa. Plant came potted. 3 inch pot, excellent roots and top-growth. Excellent plant. (this one was purchased with a credit from last year on a plant that arrived in terrible condition and never pushed a single new leaf (alstromeria).

  2. Daylily Frans Hall. A gift. I get my ex-wife a special plant yearly for Mother’s day. This particular daylily was one of her mom’s favorites and she was never able to get one from her mom’s yard after she had passed. It was bare-root but came with top growth of 4-5 fans.

  3. Daylily Swirling Waters. This one was over and above impressive. Bare-root, but the bag had 2 plants inside, one of which was in the process of self-dividing. Neither of the plants were sprouted, but the roots were sizable enough that I would suspect these were 3rd year plants.

This particular nursery was the source of a plant I had been searching for, melittis. Bastard Balm is a common enough plant in England, but it is highly unusual here in Mi. I ordered it last year and it seems to have overwintered wonderfully as it is among the first perennials which have sprouted this year.
