Rotting Graft Wood

For years I’ve tightly double wrapped graft wood in plastic wrap and then placed them in a zip-lock bag and put that in a plastic garbage bag with some moist fabric to make sure nothing dries out. This works fine for apples and pears, but I’ve begun to suspect it causes buds to rot for stone-fruit, especially peaches. Peaches have become increasingly difficult for me and I have to suspect this as a reason. Sometimes the wood even takes on a rotten smell.

Anyone with experience on overwrapping wood?

This post might throw some light on that:

@alan, interesting information. I had the worst luck grafting peaches, when others said peaches were the easiest. I’ve been looking for answers and appreciate this info!

Fine line between enough moisture and not enough for some pieces of scion wood. I dont have the magic solution.
