Here is an old New Jersey peach brochure that I scanned for your winter reading enjoyment. It was published by Rutgers College of Agriculture in 1961, found to be in decent condition among my Grandmother’s old photograph collection. It is entitled, “How to Choose and Use New Jersey Peaches” and contains peach varieties of the day grown in New Jersey as well as selection and table use.

Interesting to get a glimpse of a peach time capsule. Also interesting some of the varieties 50+ years ago are still prevalent today.

Raritan Rose, Redhaven and Redskin have performed very well for me, with good peach flavor.
Raritan Rose is one of the better white peaches I’ve grown and completely thumps a lot of these newer white peaches, imo (most of which I’ve removed).
Its also good to see Rio Oso Gem was popular back then in the east. These days its hardly grown here but its still popular in California, several west-coast places sell it. It is one of the best tasting peaches in its season.
