I’ve wrapped all my scionwood in parafilm and stored them in a fridge until grafting time. That’s average 4-5 months long. Never have had any biodegradable issues. In fact, I could not graft all scionwood I wrapped. thode woods still looked good in a fridge. I threw them away.

The only down side of this method is that I’ve used a lot of parafilm. Wrapped scion stores well in a zip locked bag without moist paper towel.

I guess I want to try and avoid extra work. You biggest culprit would be mold. I like to see the scion. You can see a little through it. I use cellophane myself. I also bleach wash them. It is more a problem with fig cuttings which have molded on me many times.
