Seedling apple find

Thought some members may be interested in my latest fruit exploration find. It is a late hanging yellow apple with good size. It is growing on the edge of a dirt parking lot/someone’s lawn and has been completely neglected. This year, my area has been hit by early freezes and a fairly severe drought which has caused apples to drop early. This tree seems largely unaffected by these conditions. The flavor fresh off the tree is nothing remarkable (although perfectly edible, I suspect it is not fully ripe as well)…it tends more towards sweet with a slight splash of acidity, but the firm texture has some promise, and I plan to graft it into my orchard and monitor it as a late hanging apple (similar to another seedling I posted about in the past…but this has more promise with firmer flesh).

Last pic is before I cleaned it up a bit, but it shows the interesting ribbing well.

The ribbing reminds of the pics of Cora’s Grand Greening that I’ve seen.
