Snow storm coming with leaves on young trees... help them lose their leaves?

6" of snow in tomorrow’s forecast… some of the 2nd/3rd-leaf fruit trees have lost most of their leaves, but a few still have half or 3/4 of their leaves.

I’m a little concerned about limb breakage.

Anyone know if it is ok to trim off some of the leaves, even if it’s just on the outer half of the scaffolds?

Yes. You can pull them off without any problems. This will save your limbs breakage from the heavy snow.

I believe in the tropics methods are used by one of our members to artificially defoliate apples to begin a dormancy with no ill effects.

Thanks so much… they’re ready for the storm!

Oh, wow. Had no idea that was possible!
