We are both in WA, right? Funny how far apart in development our plants are.

Honey Drip from Bakers Creek. They are definitely short and spindly, but I also don’t need massive production or anything.
This what I mean by multiple blooms. If I cut a head off after it finishes, it will push out two or more heads, usually smaller.
I’m in Florida, so it’s not that unusual.

Oh, I think if I understand you correctly you are referring to the suckers that come out from the bottom? Honey Drip is and old variety. We grew it for a short time.
I mistook you for someone else for a minute! Oops!
My sorghum will also sprout multiple heads if I leave the cane.

mine is various height, all have heads on now. I’ll try to get photos tomorrow of the main patch. I’ll probably get a similar amount as last year grain and syrup, next year I’ll skip the corn for more of this.

This is my first year trying sorghum, and it seems like I picked a different variety than y’all … mine are about eleven feet tall, haha

tallest is 12 feet, lowest is 5 feet.
the patch is spread out a bit this year, a few are at milk stage already.

Wow! I pass fields of it growing not to far away that are maybe 3-4’. I was thinking of trying next year. Anyone know what the smaller ones are/recommend a variety?

Sorghum has some definite growth habits. Like grain sorghums like to live in the 6-8 foot height range. As it carries larger grain heads normally.
