Southern Bartlett pear - A winner!

My earlier this year, local impulse buy Southern Bartlett has earned its keep already! I let it ripen a few. 2 weeks ripening on the counter. Juicy and sweet, but not cloyingly sweet. For a first year fruiting, I’m very impressed. Incredibly impressed. Those little organza bags have kept them and all the other pears and apples looking pretty pristine this year! That little Liberty apple decided it wanted in the shot. It was the runt for the year.

Is this Southern Bartlett somewhat fireblight resistance as advertised (more so than Bartlett)? It is supposed to be a chance sport in an abandoned orchard in Louisiana.

It’s suppose to be. I’m in a pretty heavy fire blight area. Throw in CAR as well. We’ll see how it does after a few years.

Fruit same year as planting? I’ve never had that luck! You’ve got the touch
