Starting a Tennessee orchard - not commercial!

G.890 is more of an M7 to MM.106 sized tree. I’d say G.890 and G.11 are the 2 best of the Geneva series as far as carefree goes.

G.969 has issues reported; but in fairness it is planted heavily commercially; so issues are going to be noted faster. It is still great stuff.

None of the Bud or Polish P rootstocks are WAA resistant. I use P series here and it has not been an issue with WAA. Is it the big healthy roots? I have no idea. P series was bred to perform in sandy loam and it does that well here.

I am going to give Nic-29 a try here too as it is another noted big root system tree. But of course everyone’s soil is different.

I wrote off all but B-10 on the Bud series. Our heat wrecks growth of 9 and 118. I like the easy graft takes. Going to give 10 another season. It is supposedly M26 to M9 sized; but even P.2 is out growing it. And P.2 is a tree slightly smaller then M9…lol
