Starting my pistachio tree journey today

Got the golden hills (female) and randy (male) transplanted. I was told the golden hills does not have empty nuts frequently like the kerman does. They bloom and finish 1 month earlier as well.

I promise I’m not 12 years old – but I still find it amusing that the Male cultivar is called Randy. The description from DWN of the Kerman/Peters pair says Peters will pollinate up to 11 females β€” now that’s a harem. Hopefully Peters is randy enough for the task.

But seriously – good luck on your new adventure. I recently looked into top working some landscape chinese pistache trees over to something that would be edible – I may eventually do it.

would love to see updates on this thread!
