I have asked in the past regarding disease resistant and cold hardy pears and apples. I was wondering, what varietals have you seen strong growth from? On my bud 118 rootstock, freedom has been growing very well out of the gate here in 4b. Some others have done very well, others ok, and some just don’t seem to do anything after the initial graft union and sprout. I was wondering what everyone has noticed in their experience, which varietals seem to really thrive, especially in colder climates.

Varietals refers to beverages. Varieties or cultivars are words that fit better with what is being asked.
Bud 9 has probably done the best during the first summer as compared to seedlings, B118, or any of the Geneva roots, for me anyhow.
