Surprise Shinseiki

5ish years ago I cleft grafted a couple Asian pears to callery pear stumps in a brushy area at my work, and apparently forgot about it. Saw a rodent eaten pear nearby and suddenly remembered!

I believe I did Shinseiki and Korean Giant. Totally ignored and fruiting fine, minus the broken branches from critters.

Thanks for posting your shinseiki picture, I think my lone pear out there is a Shinseiki, not 20th century.

Wow! That’s pretty amazing, and a great way to control those invasive callery pears in a productive manner. How did they taste?

Tastes good, some hard spots from curculio(?) but no big deal.

I think small hard spots under the skin where there are dimples are often caused by stinkbug feeding.
