Sweet Cherry tree not branching out, after heading cuts

I have a sweet cherry tree, which is growing strongly, but not branching out!

I always hear to do pruning on sweet cherries in summer. So last month (early June), performed a heading cut on each of the main three branches.

However, instead of branching /multiple buds growing outwards, the top bud just continued growing in the same) upwards direction. So still practically, only have 3 upward branches. (Although angled away from each other)

Is it worth reheading the new growth in late winter say late February next year), to encourage more lateral growth / multiple branches?

Or should I rehead in late fall?
