Actually their intelligence is not individually based but group based so they are extremely intelligent in many ways according to the latest I hear and read in popular media about cognitive science. Interestingly, a similar process goes on in our own brains where many “votes” are counted before decision making or even determining the reality being witnessed. I haven’t read about the process recently enough to actually grasp the full picture of what is known about this, but bits of information are sorted and accepted or rejected based on relevance to other bits.
A colony of ants or bees essentially function a lot like an individual brain with each member submitting their own bits of information and connecting with others through certain chemical processes…
Now human beings are being linked via the internet so the “brain” being assembled is and will be in another dimension of sophistication over human cognitive abilities in the past. This may not manifest itself through our political processes but it already is doing so in the realm of technology.
This all may have nothing to do with fruit growing but you have to admit that I’m nuttier than a fruitcake.
