Is today the day??
Weighing in at 3.5 lbs my first ripe papaya! From 18 inch transplant to a dozen feet and loaded with fruit in one year! Thankfully we had such a mild winter this year. Tastes great sweet but not too sweet especially with a squeeze of lime. Like a switch has been flipped went from nothing ripe to multiple fruit ripening almost overnight. Looking forward to making some papaya salsa, more green papaya salad, fresh eating, as well as fermenting some and making ointment( an australian friend brought us some and that is the only ingredient works great for cuts and scrapes that you are bound to get out in the yard).
