Transplanting Blueberries

I have some blueberries that have been unproductive, probably due to soil conditions or nutrients. I amended a row with peat, S, and fertilizer last fall. Can I transplant them now before they break dormancy? Or would fall be better? I’m afraid they might not make it another season where they’re at.

I transplanted a number of bushes in the spring, and they did fine.

I did that with two high bush last spring so I could place 2 new cherry trees where they were. They transplanted well and both still produced for the season. They have very shallow, horizontal root systems. I essentially just raked away mulch/wood chips plopped them down in the new spot, and returned mulch over the root system. A couple early season waterings and they were good to go.
