Tree wound damage

Hi all,

One of the cherry trees at the edge of my property has a big wound with white fungi in it. There was just a little cracking before the winter.

I did treat it with neem oil while dormant and with bonide fruit tree spray at the beginning of spring. Looking at the picture though, any guesses what that is and whether or not this tree is salvageable?

The picture is too blurry to make out details, but there is a fungus called the “milk white toothed polypore” that reportedly parasitizes cherry trees. If that is the case the tree is on borrowed time. Detail of the teeth below.

If that is not a match please pick them off and get as clear/close an image of the underside as possible and describe the texture (rubbery, hard, fragile etc.)
