Uses for Unpollinated Chestnuts

Hello, I have recently moved to a large area in the Appalachian Mountains on VA/WV line. We discovered a beautiful Chestnut tree but most of the nuts are unpollinated. We are raising chickens and will soon be getting goats. Are there any uses for the un pollinated nuts? Can they be used for livestock (chicken, goats, or cow) feed?
Also, what can we do to help ensure the tree is pollinated next year to get a better yield?

Thank you!

Laura

Laura, I don’t know what you can do with those hulls and shells, maybe some kind of mulch, but if you want the tree pollinated, you need to plant another chestnut or two nearby.
