Using cottonseed meal as fertilizer for blueberry production

I am about to establish a commercial blueberry farm and would like to use cottonseed meal as fertilizer. I have not yet decided on whether to do it organically or conventionally. My priority at this stage is practicality.
I have a couple questons with regard to its composition as well as its usage.

  1. Do you use it solely or in combination with commerciaI fertilizers. In what dosage?
  2. I have read a bit about hazards of the meal containing chemical residues. Any bad experience so far?
  3. As is known, it is an animal feeding stuff. My farm is surrounded by beech forests and they the habitats of wild boars, voles , bears etc. Would this meal attract these animals? (sometimes strongest fence is of no use against wild boars).

What are your experiences generally?

Good luck on your project!

I have used Holytone organic fertilizer, feather meal and Ammonium Sulfate but never cottenseed meal in my 1 acre commercial blueberry operation in NC.

I’m not organic and I now rely exclusively on the Ammonium Sulfate. Its cheap and helps to reduce soil ph. Its 21%N, so it does not take a lot

I apply about 6 pounds per 300 foot row twice in the spring and once after harvest. The plants really jump after they get the ammonium sulfate.
