Warm weather

My plums and pears are in full bloom already due to the warm weather we have been having this winter. Normally my plums will bloom a little early and about every other year we will get a late freeze and I will loose the crop. This is the first year they have bloomed this early. I figure my pears might re-bloom since they tend to bloom again in the fall but I am not sure if the plums will re-bloom this year. I wish they would of held off longer before blooming.

Jeff, where are you located? My location is in Mississippi 8b and the only blooming trees I have is 2 early nectarines from Texas A&M. Artic Star nectarine is close (most @ pink) but no plums or pears. I’m considering chilling winter to be over this weekend.

I’m located halfway between Houston and Dallas. We normally still get freezing weather until at least mid March. It will warm up and then we will get a cold front and the temps will drop again. The problem always has been a streak of warm weather early and it fools the trees into blooming early. I always watch my big pecan trees to see when they start putting on buds then I know winter is over.

Things are trying to bud out way to early here in 6b Tennessee as well :man_facepalming: we just got some cold weather so I am hopeful that it slowed everything down for a bit. Sorry if things that are blooming get killed for this year…
