What are you growing for fun this year?

Hot chili peppers that are too hot to eat. This year, Carolina Reaper and Cobra.

This is the first year in a very long time that i am not growing any peppers. It was fun while it lasted but tired of wasting good space in my own garden. Thanks to all of you guys here my addiction has shifted to mostly fruit trees. Up to about 100 varieties of just apples. Going out now to graft onto my plum trees.

I am very impressed with how you maximize your space. I used to grow a lot of perennials. Then, I discovered fruit trees.

Sometimes I feel like I want to cut all my fruit trees down and start it all over again with a well-laid plan (if that’s possible for me )
The thought has crossed my mind more than once.

I’m growing some birdhouse gourds for the first time. Thinking of using a 16’ cattle panel to create a tunnel for the gourds to climb over. If I can figure out how to get the panel home.

I’m also going to try some Atlantic Giant pumpkins. Not putting in the effort to go for the 1,000 pound pumpkins, but should be fun to see what I get.

@Barndog56, do you have a pickup ? If so just make a hoop in the bed of the truck. I have brought home a few like that. No need to even tie it down.

Luffa gourd and barrel gourds just for fun this year. I’ve tried the barrel gourds and it didn’t work first time for luffa.

Pink celery, serpent beans and hog peanuts. I’m adding ground nuts and trying wine cap mushroom spawn as well, but I really want those to succeed.

Ramps, dug several dozen volunteers from a patch farther in the woods, sticking them behind my house

I planted a dozen ramps 3 or so years ago. I’m sorry to say they really haven’t spread as much as I would have hoped.

@Viridian keep us posted on your wine caps. I made a bed last year and I’m still waiting to see something pop.

leeks spread slow, which is why they are vulnerable to overharvest…that’s one of the reasons I thought it would be nice to establish some other patches…

I planted some seeds from a dried guajillo to see what happens. They all germinated and are growing well. We’ll see how they do in ground.

I am so glad to hear that, I am on the quest for the best pumpkin for pie. On a tip from a member here I bought some Long Island Cheese seeds.

For fun, I am growing ducks.

i have a northrop i put in last spring. so far, no damage but it was a mild winter. have a riverview and traders mulberry coming soon as well.
