What calcium option works best for potted figs?

Gypsum

Agricultural Lime / Dolomite Lime

Oyster Shell powder

Soft Rock Phosphate

Is one preferred over the others for potted figs? I also saw some slow-release calcium pellets. They were pretty pricey.

Depends on your PH…

Ag Lime will of course affect that….

Bone meal is good if your PH is already below 7.

Gypsum… will boost your calcium levels and has no effect on PH.

I like a mix of Bone meal, gypsum, greensand and a bit of epsom salt… calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and many other trace minerals.

I like oyster shell. Theyre cheap.

15 dollars for 50 lbs at tractor supply. You can mix with vinegar to make it instant release if your soil isnt acidic

unless you have soft water you probably have enough calcium and magnesium already.

I got city water which is reprocessed river water. Don’t know how it is, except it is so-so for cleanliness.

I mainly use dolomitic limestone (Ca, Mg) but also some gypsum (Ca, S). I usually also add some crushed shells to the mix but I don’t expect quick release. Obviously these tick the boxes not only for Ca but also for Mg and S.

I use egg shells from my blender soaked in vinegar
