What did you eat today - that you grew?

This is the first year that my Prime ark freedom BlackBerry is producing fruit on the primocanes in the fall.

I thought they would have all frozen in some of the nights that have gone below 32 so far here in Maryland, but so far they’re still going strong and slowly ripening. I even have two flowers that look like they’re going to bloom in the next day or so.

my sons girlfriend made the best ever squash pie from a huge hybrid that grew off what was supposed to be a georgia candy roaster vine. it gave me a relatively fat looking candy roaster. thing was 20lbs. she made 2 pies and have enough left for 4 more. was even better than the pure candy roasters i grew last year. probably should have told her to save some seed from it but i forgot.

Harvested the first of my self-sown mustard greens the other week. I had never cooked them myself but had located a recipe that sounded good. Visiting sister-in-law actually prepared that recipe for everyone while I was working on a different dish. They were good and I’m looking forward to cooking more of them. I want to experiment by seasoning with red wine vinegar and try a separate one with toasted sesame oil.

Oh man those look good. Not one but two. I can imagine how good that smells.

Some vanilla ice-cream would go good with that… especially when it is still warm.
