Yesterday I had my first taste of freshly brewed homegrown, homemade green tea.
My youngest son harvested and prepared the leaves from his tea camelias. He’s in the process of creating a hedge from them.
I managed to get the largest papaya, a TR Hoovey, one Cara mango, and the Mahoi banana
into the ground. The Mahoi banana is such a short thing! It’s up to carrying 7 leaves, but is only around 2 feet tall. I thought it might be root bound because it is so short, but it wasn’t at all. Maybe it will put on some height now that it has its feet in the ground. It’s a relatively short variety, anyway, but it could still use a lot more height. Other than being a shorty, it has seemed to thrive.
I’m not quite to the halfway point planting the (potentially) fruiting tropicals. I need to start get the next bed prepped before I go much farther. It’s in the 90’s today. That drastically reduces my desire to work outside in the middle half of the day. At the same time it increases the need to spend time watering.
