I prefer their normal temperatures for this time of year.
I like Charlies weather! 2 week highs between 64 and 79. Thats near perfect. Although those phoenix temps are pretty good too since the humidity is low there.
I’m with you, Murky. If we had our average temperatures every day of the year, this would be a perfect place to be. Plenty of chill with never a freeze, and hot but quite tolerable summers. Too bad that averages don’t tell the full story.
My Coral Champagne Cherry graft is popping out. I’m itching to see how the graft union looks but no way…this is the only graft I have of this variety!
We most likely won’t see temps like that until June. I prefer temps anywhere from 50F to 75F. I’m hiding in the AC when the temps go above 85F or when its really humid.
To me it looks like above norm temps start to spread eastward as we move later in Feb. The whole country looks normal to above/much above at that point. Not sure if winter is done, but the chance for extreme cold is starting to die. Even this far north, i might see temps 40F+ next week (heat wave). We should have enough snow to retard any real heat from getting in here too quick.
There is yet another way of describing these creatures in Maine they call them ‘Coy’ dogs. All proununciations are fine. Accents ya know?
Thanks, Warm. I know you’re more tuned in to weather patterns than I am.
The whole time that I was enjoying and making the most of our recent warm spell (70’s - just breaking 80’s), I was also concerned that it meant that the jet stream would be pushing warm air under the polar mass, which would give it a strong probability of hitting us back with some nasty cold waves. I was just hoping that it would stay farther north where people actually enjoy winter, instead of reaching its icy tentacles into the southeast. As usual, my wishes have absolutely zero effect on what the weather does.
If you curl your fore finger and thumb into a tight circle and press it against your lips, breath in and make a high pitched squeak and you can call them right up to you if you are well hid. Works on bob cats too. I had a bobcat so close that I finally waved at it and spoke because it was in pouncing range and focused on my hand.
That’s interesting Derby!
I’ve never tried to call coyotes. I’d love to watch someone who has some technique (as you outline) call them up.
Bob cats and foxes are easier to call in, coyotes here can be very cautious.
I suppose cold air to still make it far south, but that window is really closing fast with the sun angle/longer days and lack of snowpack (which will get hit hard next week by the looks of it)… someone else mentioned 70Fs making it into Missouri next week.
Sounds good to me. I certainly hope it’s true because we’ve had a rough year and a half on the weather front. I hope that window gets slammed shut and locked tightly in quick order. The apple that’s blooming and leafing out is sure to have its possibilities for the year turned to toast, but I won’t be surprised to see other trees start blooming within two weeks of this cold wave. Thanks for sharing that glimmer of hope.
Snow will be starting again within a half hour. This winter seems to be unfolding in the same pattern we had last winter. Not as much snow, but snow starting in Feb. instead of Dec. I cannot wait to see how many years this will continue. It changes my growing season into a far longer amount of time. Interesting.
Same here, Mrs. G. This year, we did not get low temp (under 30 F) here until the 2nd week of Jan. That’s late.
It really is. I wanted to spray copper by Valentine’s day. I don’t know if it will be warm enough or perhaps we’ll get more snow? Ugh. Planting my seeds for spring this weekend.
You made me laugh Matt. That critter probably won’t eat it again.
We were warm and Spring like. The grass is even green, or at least till yesterday! We got six inches of snow. I woke up trying to keep warm in bed. My pump went out on my outdoor boiler! Today I spent $309 fixing it. It was a pain to fix because the wrenches don’t have enough room to turn and I can’t get a socket on it. I had to take my pex tubing apart in the basement too to get the plastic pump parts out of the heat exchanger. I’m just glad to be in here at the computer now and not out in the snowy driveway. I can’t believe I had to pay that much for a 009 taco pump! I could get it cheaper online but I needed it fixed now.
Ouch, Johnny! Essential things always seem to break when they are most needed. I hate it when I know I can buy a part for much less online, but have to pay a stiff premium locally because I need it immediately. I sure hope you’re staying warm now.
Yes the house is seventy deg now.
I just put work into my PEX system as well, new actuators and some minor maintenance here and there, but what a godsend it is to work on.
