…ladybug!!! Seriously, I was standing there and suddenly felt a sharp, continuous pain on my bare arm. I looked down and there was a ladybug. I was so surprised that just as a reflex I scolded it like a pet. It seemed pretty agitated but I blew on it to persuade it to fly away. I then rubbed my sore arm, and felt a little blob, which on close inspection was an aphid. So maybe the ladybug was trying to pierce the aphid and suck out its insides, but missed the aphid and got me instead. Or maybe the aphid bit me? I’m really confused. Gardening is getting increasingly dangerous
Lizzy,
In Kansas we are accustomed to being bit by all kinds of things. Lady bugs don’t all bite but there are those that do http://www.gardensalive.com/product/do-ladybugs-bite/you_bet_your_garden.
Hopefully you never experience a night of Kansas insects. I’m not complaining because I’ve been to other places such as Missouri where thousands of tiny ticks attack and carry nasty diseases ! There are times I look like a small pox victim. Hang in there Lizzy! Remember the time to really watch your back is when their numbers build.
Lol, you must have got a batch of god old Missouri seed ticks. Those things love me, they will crawl through the fabric on my blue jeans to get at me.
That’s what they were Derby. I’ve spent a lot of summers there eating and drinking things I shouldn’t and living deep in the woods off the beaten path. Between water moccasins, copperheads, wild boar , occasional bear ( never saw one just knew they were there) poachers and who knows what else you learn to watch your back there, we have very few ticks in Kansas.
