This is some type of miniature narcissist or daffodil. Each year it seems to bloom at a shorter height. Why?

They probably just need to be divided. Looks pretty crowded in there.

The weather might have something to do with it, too.
I’ve read that insufficient winter chill can cause it, but as far as average temperatures, it was much milder in the winter of 2019/2020, and they weren’t that short last spring.
I’ll try that when the foliage dies back this spring/summer.

If it is the case (rather than your imagination) that they get shorter every year…then the time to divide and replant has arrived.
(If you can locate them at this point.)
