Will buds break through buddy-tape?

I have apple grafts that are pushing buds under buddy-tape. Will they pop through or should I break out a razor blade and cut the tape?

Buds always bust through for me. The rule of thumb I use is no more than two layers over the bud. I try to wrap so I get just one layer over a bud but the tip bud is harder to do that. No need to disturb the graft unless you put three or more wraps over the buds, IMO. Buds have a strong force behind them.

1-2 layers only. I’ll sit back and watch the explosive nature of the buds. …super slo mo, though.
