I’m thinking of adding a shipova pear grafted to a aronia rootstock to my yard. supposedly only gets around 6ft. and fruits in 2 yrs. shipova is partially self fertile so i would get some fruit but my property is surrounded with mountain ash and i have 2 types of aronia growing nearby. would these pollinate the shipova or are they only good to graft to? i can’t find anything in the searches. id also like to start grafting scions of it to all my mountain ash to get more of the fruit. thx.

I’ve read that mountain ash might pollinate shipova but nothing for sure. Do you have any pear trees that would work as pollinators?
I tried grafting shipova on my mountain ash this spring but I’m brand new to grafting and don’t think it took.
no i don’t. not many pears are hardy here (z3b). thats why i want to go with shipova. i too have grafted a few z4 hardy pear scions to a 8ft. mountain ash. it will be awhile before i know if they take.
