Would you cut a Damson plum to a single leader, 2 years old?

Hi, I am thinking go ahead and cut to a single leader. The leader on the left.

Should I cut it? I’m thinking bark inclusion and the tree breaking down the line.

Yes! And most of the lower branches. And I would also remove the top of the other leader. Plums are best pruned to an open-center (vase shape) to maximize airflow and sunlight to the middle of the tree, to reduce fungal and bacterial diseases.

Definitely cut out one leader, and as MinnesotaApricot says you could make it open center if you like. Central leader can work though if that’s what you prefer.
