Figcuttings.com

Copy paste. I’ll stick to English from now on. As I was only passing info others reported. It must be misspelled. Thanks for pointing that out. I think both phrases mean the fig is good! It for sure must be a misspelling. And the user thought it meant not tasty when it actually meant tasty, it could explain Ray’s comment too. Something was lost in the translation! Ha! Well it appears to be a tasty fig at least according to Pons, which is very good news!

The guy that told me is Spanish and lives in Spain. All I know is
what I was told.

… High praise listing it along side Martinenca Rimada.
I could not find out much about it. It is a common fig, so that’s a start, found that out.
It comes from the Balearic Islands. Beyond that nothing. I’m hopeful it’s a good one as it comes from Pons himself, why would he give out one he doesn’t like? I obtained a few Pons figs, hard to resist, I got cuttings of others, this one is a plant, not a cutting.
I tend to like rare plants, an easy hook for me. I like heirlooms too. Pull me in every time! Well if it’s a dud, it won’t be the first time!
Thanks for your input Ray,

Martenica Rimada and Col de dam Roja are supposed to be very
good figs and I have both of them coming, but there are a lot of figs
that are in Pons’s book that he doesn’t like. Just because a variety may
be listed in his book, doesn’t automatically mean that it’s a good fig.

I agree, never said that, don’t think that. I myself have no idea if it’s good or not? I’m just going by what other people quoted from the book. I guess you dispute the quote. I have no way of knowing if the guys on Figsforfun misquoted or not? It doesn’t appear so as every Spanish word they wrote meant good things. So it appears to be correct to me. I’m just happy so many directly from his orchard are coming out.

Here are all the fig cuttings in the BAGGY method. Thanks again Phil.

So no idea on what Jolly Tiger fig’s fruit is like?

Scott. <---- thinks he was lost in there.

There are at least two varieties called Jolly tiger, the real one the figs are not that great. it’s the rarity and the look of the plant that people like.

Scott, I have received anything? I am tired of being treated like this. I hate doing it but I have emailed them to say if they do not ship or refund my money by COB Friday, I will be filing a complaint with PayPal. So far, I have had no response from them. They have taken money from everyone well in advance so if they need to hire people they have the money to do it. How difficult is it to put cuttings into packages and ship? If they cant do it then stop taking orders. I ordered back in Aug 2016 and was told order will ship in feb 2017!

I ordered last spring (2016) rooted plants for delivery this spring (2017).

Haven’t seen or heard anything either, but I’m still optimistic (or foolish)…

I concerned that you aren’t hearing anything from them…

If he is having trouble fulfilling one of my varieties, I wish he would email and offer a chance to substitute and ship or wait. Just so that we are hearing something…

Scott

Scott,

I never got a response from Figcuttings.com. I called Paypal just now and was told PP protection only covers 6mths so I am out of luck! They offered to refund me last year but has not made any offer this time when I asked. I wonder if they know about this PPP and using it to scam buyers.

Basically if any of you paid using PP and transaction is out of the 6mths protection, you cannot open a dispute/claim with PP but you can still call them to complain and insist they investigate this vendor. If anyone buys from this vendor, please be aware that PP only offers you 6mths protection.

RF,
Sorry to hear about your orders and many buyers around the country. I hoped this gentleman steps up and do the right things by returning all the money to the buyers.

Tony

Tony, I hope so too. I am pretty sure some people have spent quite a bit for their trees. I think I have been very fair to give him time to respond but have thus far been ignored.

I am not being nasty but how difficult can it be to ship cuttings out esp when he has taken money in advance. I now wished I had accepted the refund when it was offered last year! My PPP has expired and I am wondering if he knows this and is the reason why he has ignored my email asking for refund this time around.

Until he respond to me I will assume that they have no integrity and suggest anyone who paid using PP to call PP to call PP. It is the only way so that PP can investigate him. Basically if you have paid him and your order is past 6mths old, you cannot start a dispute/claim through PP, so if he does not send out your order, you are stuffed.

If he response to my email I will let everyone.

Some of the comments other have made, I agree 100% if he can fulfill then stop taking orders and certainly stop taking payment and issue refund when it is asked!

I was hoping he could do this, although I feel now it’s all going to collapse. PayPal will soon freeze his account. One gentlemen has been working hard to shut him down, and I suspect even the FBI may become involved. Their cyber unit. I know they have been going after EBay scammers, so it’s just a matter of time. If he doesn’t start mailing soon, it’s all over. He will need the money for legal defense.

Drew, I was not aware that someone has been working to shut them down!

The PP agent I spoke with said they have not received any complaints about them but said they would investigate.

PPP allows unscrupulous sellers to use it to their advantage. It was not until a few months ago that many purchases made using PP has no PPP and only found out today that purchases that quality are only covered for 6mths! I have not used PP since I found out that many purchases are not covered under their PPP.

Has anyone who bought from them ever received anything? Thx

Roundface,
I do not think you are being nasty at all. You are more than fair to this seller.

In fact, you help others by posting and sharing your experience.

Thank you mamuang. I just want to warn others so that they are aware and not fall into the same trap as I and many others have.

PP it good until you have a problem… like I said many purchases are not covered by their PPP and when they do it is only for 6mths so for anyone who have paid using PP and your purchase is still within these 6mths my suggestion is to contact PP asap if you want any chance of getting your money back.

Well they guy went the route of filing criminal complaints against James. Strange the guy is going after EBay scammers too, and Emailed me while I was composing this message. Asking about how I got scammed. Which I did with one plant. My bad, so I have no interest in filing a formal complaint. I actually like the figs from the plant, but it’s not what I ordered.

I don’t think it’s a scam but will admit I’m concerned with how it’s going. I went on his site and you can place an order right now for 1,000,000 Ponte Tresa, Black Madeira, Galicia Negra, etc, etc, etc, fig plants. Shoot go big make it a billion…LOL

He did refund my money, ~$1300, as soon as I ask. But we have done some business. He bought about three high dollar Black Madeira from me and several hundred cuttings of various cultivars. I helped him a little when he was just getting started and needed cuttings of everything. I suspect that helped with a refund. And I know he’s spent big dollars getting geared up.

What mystifies and concerns me is why he doesn’t start shipping plants. He’s rapidly running out of the best shipping weather. It’s too cold in KS to ship in winter and it will soon get too hot given what I’ve seen of his shipping methods.
