Hand pruner

alan,

The handles on the ones in my Pic above are almost 29" long.

They are quite a bit longer than the handles on my previous pruners… which are in the trash now

I am sure they are going to work fine. I will definitely have more reach and leverage than before.

Thanks

Of course, it’s all relative and there are advantages to a somewhat shorter lopper. Really the advice was for others who might be about to order a pair because the longer handled ones are harder to find and they might be unaware of their options.

Do they really only weigh 14.1 ounces, like the product information states?

Those Bahco loppers are very nice. The light weight is a nice advantage. For someone who doesn’t do a lot of pruning, so weight might not be a problem and wants to spend half the price this Corona is nice. It’s heavy duty and heavy at 2.8 lbs, 32 inches long. It has an interesting cutting end for two sizes of branches. Corona SL 7180 32" Dual Cut Loppers

Since mine arrived I have pruned 2 apple trees, 2 peach trees, 2 eu plum trees, 1 mulberry

smooth sailing so far… the loppers and hand pruner working very nicely. I am not used to such fine equipment… but I am getting there.

Just got off work, beautiful sunny evening - heading out to knock out a few more. No blooms breaking here yet, but some nice swelling happening.

anyone with an ars have issues taking the blade off for sharpening? ive tried oiling the nut and also heating it with a torch and i cant get it to break loose.

Take off the 11mm nut and then the bolt unscrews from the other side. Some Liquid Wrench might help if it is stuck.

the black one?

The black one is the bolt. First remove the silver nut on the other side then unscrew the black bolt.

ok i finally got it… it was REALLY on there, i thought i was going to break it. nice and sharp now!

For thirty years I have used a French pruner, a BAHCO PX-M2. I have tried many, and the BAHCO are the most comfortable in the hand. There are left handed models as well.

Small fixed handle seems like a good deal right now… I might order one even tho my hands arent super small.
