Two years ago I bought a Sunred nectarine from WM. This year after it bloomed the fuzz covering revealed it to most likely a peach. I was out looking these over this morning and I remembered a how to determine when a peach is ripe stored in my head from an old Fruitnut posting. It had a little give near the stem so I picked it and headed toward the kitchen for a knife. It was perfect. It has been a long time since I had a peach that taste this good. I don’t know if picking it at the peak of ripeness or the variety caused it to be so good. As peach size goes it was on the small side. To borrow an old movie saying, sometimes life is like a box of chocolate.

Very nice…!! It does look fuzzy but real short fuzz.
There is eight remaining so I’m going to see if they are ready. The grands are coming over tomorrow so they will get most of them.

That looks like it could be a seedling, the very large seam is not found on recent varieties and the small size is another potential reason.
Anyway, the only thing that really matters is it tastes good!
