Thorns, twists, and turns

the putative ‘crown of thorns’, something to look at in this crucifying and excruciating lull of winter

That’s beautiful. Did you braid it?

thanks @murky , and yes, we braided them. We’re trying it on figs and mulberries too

admittedly some people find it spooky, so definitely not for the front yard if you have a fastidious HOA or if with neighbors quick to report to city hall for violating aesthetic code.

Fantastic, love it:grin:

Looks really cool!

Thanks @Chikn and @bleedingdirt

and i agree, figs make awesome sculpturals too, being quite rubbery and malleable.
also has the advantage of permanence, being disease/pest-free, and the limbs are long-lived if grown in warmer regions.

here’s a pic of tropical figs trained into cylinder baskets, being sold for 1500$ each(!) So much quicker to grow topiary and sculpturals in the tropics, due to the year-round growing season.

here in america(outside of hawaii, guam, and warmest areas of fl), it will practically take a lifetime…
