Yay...๐Ÿ™„

The Japanese stiltgrass is sprouting.

This and wild violet are the worst weed offenders in my garden.

Donโ€™t let them bloom.

Resistance is futile. Most of the lawns in my neighborhood are about 70% stiltgrass in some areas.

why do they call it a grass?

Because it is one. It looks odd as a seedling.

Stilt grass (Microstegium vimineum) is a member of the genetic grass Family (Poaceae) which includes Maize, Wheat, Barley, Bamboo, Fescue, etc.

since it grows well ๏ผŒwhy not just grow this type of grass in the lawn๏ผŒhappy end for both worlds

Iโ€™m quit sure microstegium is native here in Kentucky. Every woodsy farm I have ever been on has it.

Nope.

Itโ€™s not a biggie really, but about what year would you say it got โ€˜introducedโ€™ in the USA then?
(Since the founding of Jamestown Colony or Plymouth Colony?)

Iโ€™ve no idea! Although it might be detailed in one of the references listed in the species link I gave above.
