The Japanese stiltgrass is sprouting.
This and wild violet are the worst weed offenders in my garden.
Donโt let them bloom.
Resistance is futile. Most of the lawns in my neighborhood are about 70% stiltgrass in some areas.
why do they call it a grass?
Stilt grass (Microstegium vimineum) is a member of the genetic grass Family (Poaceae) which includes Maize, Wheat, Barley, Bamboo, Fescue, etc.
since it grows well ๏ผwhy not just grow this type of grass in the lawn๏ผhappy end for both worlds

Iโm quit sure microstegium is native here in Kentucky. Every woodsy farm I have ever been on has it.

(Since the founding of Jamestown Colony or Plymouth Colony?)
Iโve no idea! Although it might be detailed in one of the references listed in the species link I gave above.
