2024 Black Friday/Cyber Monday Nursery Deals?

this makes me not trust them:

I’ve noticed some of their plants are mislabeled a lot when it comes to raspberries. I had a talk with one of the guys and David about double gold being ann a while back. They changed it cause there’s actual visible differences but it took a moment.

That’s probably just a prime ark freedom.

Have been told by many that Troy is more a businesse man than plant person and i think he’s the one that makes the website.

What company posted that ad?

Not that I would trust Burpee in the first place, but this ad has me wondering if the person who wrote this description has ever tasted honeyberries… or blueberries. They don’t taste similar to me.

Not one bit or i wouldn’t have given away all my Honeyberries for free.

Thx - had been thinking of ordering some blackberries so this was a nice little bonus.
Paid as much for shipping as the plants
Have always had good results with Ison’s.

Believe nurseries use predefined description for plants, not sure who controls the description, but most nurseries I’ve seen use the same.

Example https://www.northwoodsnursery.com/category/822/

I imagine its a pure nightmare to have 9 sizes of one plant.

The site is confusing… and way too complicated for a small niche nursery.

Ive added a dozen or so things to my ‘wishlist’ but i have no real idea how that even works myself. I dont really want to check back 1000 times to see if stuff comes back in stock.

Restoring Eden-

I also emailed them about Shinglo pear. As you can read in the description a person would think there was some typos going on.

They replied back that in fact there is a pear called Shinglo and that they didnt know anything about it other than its not Shinko.

(there is another nursery 4hrs away from them that also sells Shinglo)… so maybe its a local thing?

They have not had the time or desire in a year to correct their typos either.

From what i gather they are an honest nursery that just buys small plants and propagated trees and resells them. Buy low sell high.

Not sure they know much if anything about what they sell other than the prices.

I’m skeptical strictly due to the fact that in Korean they don’t really distinguish between G and K (not relevant but it’s the aspiration that determines the consonant instead)
It would be very very easy to get it swapped when someone is translating

20%off at Greenhouse Megastore using code EARLY24 through 12/2. Plus they always have free shipping for orders over $99.

I buy the 450 count box of 3.5 inch square form pots for the pepper, tomato and eggplant starts I sell every spring.

And I’m a huge fan of the 23”x23” trays that are super strong and useful for lots of pots of cuttings, etc. so much better than dealing with flimsy 10x20 trays.

“Professionally pruned” just means that they paid somebody to prune the trees. It is like when they advertise beef as being “grass fed”.
I stopped buying from Stark Bro’s because everything they have sent me was lacking root mass.

Correction: It means they chop most of the roots and top to fit in their tiny boxes.

Swiftblocker has a 10 percent off sale. Not much but enough to incentive me to make the leap.

I got converted over to soil blocking this year and the seedlings do grow much better and faster compared to small cell trays, and it’s nice not having to pry the small poorly rooted seedlings out. But getting bigger seeds into the premade blocks was a pain. Swiftblocker is nice in that you can partially make the blocks, add in the seeds, then top off with more soil to cover. Plus the ergonomics is better than the old school soil blockers.

Pairs well with the Garland Windowsill Trays from Greenhouse Megastore.

I prefer the 43x22 trays. A little less rigid but plenty sturdy and fits 4 10x20 trays easily. Makes summer watering so much easier. Then I use them indoors during the winter on my 48x18 wire racks.

Hi Nil,

I don’t et the grass fed beef part…

“Grass fed” means that the cow was fed grass at some point during its lifespan. It is a qualifier that means nothing, like “professionally pruned”.

P.S. Why aren’t you at your post?
