Anyone growing the Ayer pear from Kansas? Its not the same pear as Ayers

@39thparallel

I’m working hard to get scions for Estella and Ayer for some of my rootstock in this area. Scion wood is not available to the public at this time. Since Ayer, Douglas, and Estella were part of the Lawrence Kansas collection in the past maybe we can grow these on a commercial scale in the future. I’m going to need to do a lot of testing with Ayer and Estella here at my experimental orchard like i have done with douglas. Douglas as your aware can be grown very well in this area. It is given to overproducing which leads to branch breaking if allowed to do so Douglas Pear. We need to find the Ince pear if possible. I have every pear rootstock to try to grow these with. Interstems of douglas , kieffer, duchess d’ angoulme etc. may be needed but i will figure out what works once i can locate the scions.
