Sorry, Ahmad. I have to try to see if I had pictures of my late Fuji I don’t like them. They are large apples with shiny skin. Reddish over yellowish with a bit of green. Nothing standout taste wise. It is not crisp, either.
I wish I had space for a storage fridge. Keeping apples in a fridge at 34-36 F, I used to keep them in close plastic bags in my regular friedge. They lasted into May. I had too many apples last season. No room in the fridge.
Not every varieties store well. The dense flesh like Gold Rush, Arkansas Black store very well. I am pleasantly surprised Rubinette has stored well and tasted good.
I have a simple question to ask. I have an Emerald Besuty, I just realized it’s a pluot, I already got rid of 2 pluot trees, but can I graft E. Plum or J. Plum to this tree. If not I will give my brother this tree, he may have the chill, I don’t.
Please let me know what you think about the taste. My tree is in partial shade so lack of enough sun may have affected the overall quality of these apples for me.
In the sun, Lodi looks white. I think you found the correct tree with
“ white” apples.
I have about 20 Reine des Reinette for the first time ever on my tree. My tree died in RI. I also had Ananas de Reinettes but it was far from prolific. I cannot grow Calville Blanc d’Hiver here. It really doesn’t get cold enough. Cannot wait to take pictures of them for you.
Our original Lodi was tart even when ripe. By then it was also soft. Fine for applesauce. We tried it in a pie once. If you like apple purée filling, you might like Lodi Pie.
The tree was probably 20 years old when we moved to Lodi, and it lasted another dozen years or so. Our current Lodi apple tree has yet to bear fruit. As I have written elsewhere, if we didn’t live in Lodi, we wouldn’t have grown a Lodi.
I like that CCR’s song , Lodi, but definitely do not like the apple. Your experience was like mine, ripe but sour. The picking window is like a week. Last year it turned pale yellow. I went away for a few days. Came back to crumbly Lodi. Texture was just like you described.
About this “white” apple, a few years ago, there was a forum member talking about finding large “white” apple on Cape Cod. He described where the tree was.
@Johnthecook lives in the area. He went to search for the tree and found it. He collected scionwood and shared it with me. That was around 2020-2021. My graft set fruit last year. I found out from other forum member that it was Lodi.
Unfortunately, it is not even a good apple. I think John mentioned that searching for this apple was the most interesting thing about this apple.
