Apple grafting - callusing temp?

Hi Ari,
Looks like a good first effort! I’m not familiar with your weather patterns in UK, but you may want to read this thread to make plans for what to do next while your grafts are callousing. Keep them cover by all means to avoid direct sunlight for 3-4 weeks while your grafts callous.

When to put bench grafts outside (apples+pears)

Thanks for the excellent information folks. Dennis, when letting the trees callus I assume it’s ok to keep them damp but unplanted? Since my materials are coming in mid March, I’ll get them grafted and let them callus up in a cool dark room for about three weeks. Should I then move them into a cold area 35°- 45° F until they are ready to go outside in late may? Is coconut coir a suitable medium to keep them moist in? Thanks!
