I gave my concoction a sip tonight. Darn tasty. Decided to mix an ounce or so over ice with the cider I made yesterday. I imagine a drink like that in a metropolitan area could easily run $15 ![]()
apple on apple. win = win!
Apparently apples will soak up a bunch of bourbon. I poured the jug of bourbon, cut up apples, vanilla beans, and cinnamon sticks through a sieve into a pitcher. Of the 2 quart jar, maybe a quart of booze came out. I threw the boozy apples in the freezer. I’m thinking I’ll use them for “ice cubes”.
Cut up some more apples and filled the mason jar back up.
eating those infused apples will likely get you more drunk than drinking the bourbon. i learned this in the army making jungle juice with fruit in it. dangerous. we also used to fill half gallon mason jars with a mix of cut up fruit then toped it off with 190pf everclear. 24hrs later all the booze was absorbed and we ate our way to get drunk.
I’m thinking about putting a few slices in a blender along with some sweet cider. Apple bourbon slushy
that sounds fabulous!
Vietnam has some seriously extreme wild yeasts too. They are studying 3 commonly used types due to their ability to metabolize heavy metals…lol
some mushrooms do that as well.
